Second Staybridge Suites Opening In Jeddah / Foodex Saudi
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed a 15-year management agreement with Al Andalus Property for a Staybridge Suites hotel in Jeddah.
The 164-key Staybridge Suites Al Andalus Mall marks the extended-stay brand’s second property in Jeddah, complementing a previously announced property on Hira Street, and is due to open first, although no date was given. Construction is underway in Al Andalus Square.
Pascal Gauvin, chief operating officer, Middle East, India & Africa, IHG said Jeddah is a booming domestic leisure destination in Saudi Arabia, and its popularity is set to rise with the redevelopment of the Corniche and by major investments in the city’s airport. “Demand for extended stay apartments is high and we see a strong future ahead for Staybridge Suites in Jeddah and Saudi Arabia,” he said.
Hathal Alutaibi, director of Marketing & Business Development, Al Andalus Property, said the Andalus Mall houses a number of world-renowned brands and attracts an average number of one million visitors per month.
The Staybridge Suites brand launched in 1998 and the first property in the Middle East opened in Cairo 10 years later.
IHG is keen to grow the brand in the Middle East with seven properties in the pipeline. The Staybridge Suites Yas Island has established its name in Abu Dhabi although rather curiously, it has yet to launch in Dubai.
