The Halal Science Center Chulalongkorn University
The Halal Science Center Chulalongkorn University (HSC) was initiated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Winai Dahlan in 1995 in a small science laboratory of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Chulalongkorn University. The work of Halal Forensic Science was developed to protect both Muslim and non-Muslim consumers. The HSC was honored to be acknowledged as the first Halal science agency in the world that developed works on Halal science, technology, and innovation. The HSC expands its network that covers many branches of Halal science and receives several international awards. Currently, the HSC is working on the development of Halal science, technology, and innovation continuously. Its works are such as producing academic works which has been published in national and international journals; creating innovations that are granted patents and petty patents; researching on development of new techniques – as well as test kits for use in the analysis of Halal food products; providing consultation for food industry sectors, restaurants, airlines, hotels, and hospitals that wish to produce Halal food using quality management system to assure and be responsible for the Halal status of products and services (Halal Assurance and Liability Quality System or HAL-Q). In addition, the HSC provides opportunities for those who interested among common people, students, public and private sectors to learn more about Halal science and technology, history, business, as well as others additional education and skills development at online learning library THA ACADEMY via Facebook page of the Halal Science Center, Chulalongkorn University.
